Getting started takes about five minutes
Four steps, in order. The first three only happen once.

Install and verify
Download from Google Play, sign up with your phone number, and add your school, department and level.
- Step 2
Find your people
Search for your department, level and hostel groups in the Discover tab and join the ones that apply to you.
- Step 3
Turn on the right alerts
Follow your school in Campus Life so notices reach you, and mute anything that turns out to be noise.
- Step 4
Start using it
Post your first listing, share a note in your class, or message a coursemate you have only ever seen in a group.
Trading safely on campus
Most campus trades go fine. The ones that go wrong tend to fail the same few ways, and all of them are avoidable.
HowFar does not hold your money or handle delivery. Treat every trade the way you would treat a trade at the school gate.
- Meet buyers and sellers in a public place on campus, during the day.
- Inspect an item fully before any money changes hands.
- Be careful with advance payment to anyone you cannot verify.
- Keep the conversation inside HowFar so there is a record if you report it.
- Use block and report freely. You do not owe anyone a conversation.
