Privacy Policy
Plain language on what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.

What this covers
This policy explains how HowFar Labs Ltd handles information when you use the HowFar mobile app or visit howfar.space. It applies to students, institutional accounts and anyone else who uses the service.
Information you give us
When you create an account we collect your phone number, your name, and the school, department and level you choose to add. You may also add a profile photo and a short bio.
When you post a listing, send a message, join a group or report something, we store that content so the feature can work.
Information collected automatically
We collect basic device and usage information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and crash reports. This is used to keep the app working on the range of phones students carry.
We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.
How we use information
To deliver messages, show listings to the right campus, run groups, deliver campus notices, and keep your account secure.
To review reports, investigate abuse, and remove accounts that break our terms.
To fix problems and decide what to build next.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your contact details with advertisers. We do not read your private messages except where required to review a report you or another person has filed, or where the law requires it.
Sharing
We share information with service providers who host our infrastructure and deliver notifications, under agreements limiting what they can do with it. We may disclose information where required by Nigerian law or a valid legal request.
If your institution runs a verified account, it sees what is posted publicly in the communities it administers. It does not see your private messages.
Your choices
You can edit or remove your profile details in the app at any time. You can delete your account, which removes your profile and listings. Some records may be retained where we are required to keep them.
To request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it, write to team@howfar.space.
Children
HowFar is built for students in tertiary institutions and is not directed at children. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app and update the date below.
